Introduction
Since I began releasing applications and tools to the public, I've recognized the importance of knowledge. In business, having high-quality information, especially direct feedback from users, is crucial. Motivated by this, I implemented feedback collection mechanisms in my apps, such as comments, suggestions for improvements, error reporting, and testimonials. Additionally, I analyzed specific events and user behaviors with the aim of continuously enhancing my offerings.
Problem
Implementing these mechanisms wasn't particularly challenging. However, the issue arose from having this information dispersed across various application dashboards. This fragmentation is a well-recognized problem. While there are numerous applications designed to consolidate feedback collection, error reporting, and similar functions, they tend to be costly.
Approach
I realized that this is a common problem, but its significance and specifics vary between projects and teams. Therefore, I decided to develop my own custom solution, tailored to my needs.
The solution is straightforward. It involves standardized data collection patterns and workflows integrated across all my applications, which are then organized and stored systematically. For data visualization and intelligence analysis, I use Retool to create a custom dashboard. This setup significantly streamlines the process of making data-driven business decisions.
Results
The system currently works remarkably well with minimal effort. Initially designed for feedback collection, its evolution into a business intelligence tool has been surprisingly effective, especially in customer support tasks. I can quickly visualize and understand user issues.
Being a bespoke solution also affords me the flexibility to modify and expand it as needed, presenting the data in a manner that suits my preferences. This simple tool has proven to have a very high return on investment.
